Gog.com How To Download Games

saarah06: Hi so I'm kind of new to gog games, well I've had an business relationship for a while just accept never downloaded a game despite having bought a few. I decided to play a game in my library but don't actually know how to download them. Unlike steam the games on this website seem to exist in several parts. I was trying to download the beginning withcher game and downloaded the first part (1mb) simply when I click on the second function to download it says open with vlc player as the top option, the 2nd option beingness DownThemAll!, and the third option being save file. I don't know which one to click and would like to know if possible.

Use "save the file". VLC incorrectly thinks the .bin files are meant to be used with it, e.g. that they are either audio CD or DVD movie .bin files (images). They are not, in this case they are the data files for the GOG game installer.

Not certain almost DownThemAll!, it sounds like some kind of download managing director, but have yous installed it yourself? Safest is to use "relieve the file" option, and download all the parts and possible updates (patches) + DLC installers to the same directory. They are big files though, hopefully yous have a fast and reliable internet connectedness.

If y'all are using the GOG Milky way client, y'all can as well download the installers (backups) with it.

After you have downloaded all the installer files, patches etc., just run the executables to install the game, patches and DLCs.

Or, if you lot want more similar a Steam like experience, apply the GOG Milky way client to install the game (it will both download and install the game for you). Just I personally adopt downloading the installers and installing the game myself, the download will also proceed faster then because the installer files are compressed, while the GOG Milky way install version is probably downloaded uncompressed.
